We have carried on looking at the Tiger Who Came to Tea by Judith Kerr. This week we have compared this book to other books she has written. We looked at the similarities and differences. Each group looked at a different book and presented their findings to the rest of the class.
We have been VERY busy this week in maths! We have looked at 1 more and 1 less than a 2 digit number, ordering numbers from the smallest to biggest and repeatedly adding 10 to numbers using apparatus to see the pattern. Some YR2s and all of the YR1s also learnt that addition number sentences can be any way around for example; 4+3=7 and 3+4=7. They looked at all the different ways to make 5,6, 10, 15 and 20.
In science this week, we looked at materials. We learnt the properties of materials and then Mrs Cryan set us the challenge of identifying materials in our room. Perhaps at home you could ask your child what material objects are made out of and how they know?
On Friday we named our class Maths Monkeys. Their names are now Monty and Molly! They went home for the weekend with Liliana and Lucy. We are very excited to hear about their adventures on Tuesday!
School and Eco Council
After a very exciting day of lots of speeches Mrs Cryan's class voted for Vesta to be our Eco Council rep and Isaac to be our School Council rep. Well done everyone for your fantastic speeches!
PE will be on Monday and Tuesday this week instead of Wednesday.
