w/c 2nd November

Firework week
This week has been a very special week in Mrs Cryan's class, we have had a firework week! On Monday the children learnt all about firework safety. Following on from this the children were split into groups to design and create a pretend firework! They had to make an eye catching poster and include lots of information about their firework. The children thought about the firework's special features, description, price and create an offer. After the children had made their poster, they made their firework!

On Friday we had a special visit from Mr Steel to listen to our firework sales pitch. The children had to persuade Mr Steel and Mrs Cryan to buy their fireworks! The presentations were brilliant and both Mr Steel and Mrs Cryan were impressed!

During the week we also made Catherine Wheel cookies. We really enjoyed making them and hope you enjoyed eating them!

This week in maths we have looked at fractions. We have learnt that a half has to be two equal parts and have looked at different ways of shading half of a shape. On Monday, Mrs Cryan set a challenge to fold a square in half in different ways. We have also looked at quarters and know a quarter is 1/4.

Following on from this we have looked at finding fractions of numbers. Everyone learnt how to find half of a number. Perhaps you could get your child to show you this at home?

Maths Monkey
Before half term Monty and Molly went home with Samuel and Mikey, they had a great time and learnt lots of maths! This week Olivia and Tyler have Maths Monkey.

LOTS of children have now got their RED TED caps. Well done everyone who kept up their reading at home during the half term!

What a busy week!
